The Battle of Coronel and mystery Treasury Dresden:
In Butan history surprises us. Contemplating the Pacific from its terraces, the Battle of Coronel and Odyssey Dresden German war ship feels here.
German fleet in Chilean coast. (1914)
The Battle of Coronel or Battle of the day of All Saints was a naval battle of the First World War that was fought in Chilean territorial waters off the Bay of Coronel between the fleet of the German admiral Maximilian von Spee, composed cruises battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau light cruisers Leipzig, Nuremberg, Dresdeny composed by the Glasgow British fleet, the cruiser Monmouth, the packet become auxiliary cruiser Otranto and cruise Good Hope, under the command of Admiral Sir Christopher Cradock, where they were sunk the Good Hope and Monmouth on November 1, 1914, dying Admiral Cradock and nearly 2,000 officers and seafarers in battle. This event has a real importance given that marked the beginning of the end of British rule and changing course of history.
Today, one hundred years after the battle, the only tomb of these men is this sea.
The German light cruiser "Dresden" was sunk by its own crew in March 1915 near Juan Fernandez, after fleeing the British enemy forces for three months in the fjords south of Chiloe, where he had sought refuge after the battle battle of Coronel and Falkland islands in the context of the First World War. Having already low on fuel, ammunition exhausted and worn machines, was bombed three British warships that had been located at Dresden in Cumberland Bay Juan Fernández. Given the desperate situation, Captain Lüdecke had requested shortly before the neutral Chile detention of the crew. Many sailors survived the misfortune, settling later in Chile. Of these men comes a story that looks more like a myth, and that indicates that the Dresden brought from Mexico and hidden in her bilge an invaluable Maya treasure Lüdecke with a group of sailors full confidence would have hidden at the bottom of each fjords while remained hidden in them. The treasure would have no material value as such, but an unexpected intangible value that would have implications for the revelation of the mysterious origins of humanity.

Our mission is to give Coronel a distinctive experience in the world of gastronomy, tourism and culture, with a service that exceeds their expectations, positioning us as the focus of these operations, and allowing the development of our employees a good working environment.
Our essence is to provide an alternative view of life, which proposes to earth and our origins as an inspiring source of growth and personal satisfaction. With an approach that will surprise visitors with the historical significance of the place, set in the context of changes and evolutionary processes that occurred during the conquest and subsequent industrialization of coal.
It all started as a child when my father showed me a "ammonite" petrified of 65 million years and they had found in a task of the Schwager coal mine. That day began my passion for researching the origins of life in this area which was land and cradle of prehispanic ethnic birthplace of the immortal warriors in our history. I also met other brave history that preceded them, like those pioneers coal brought new seeds for industrialization. Thus grew my admiration and respect for this country and our people. However I bothered me the lack of national identity of the majority of Chileans.I began to realize that we have a spirit island, admiring foreign, but not value self and see as foreign cultural influence permeates our youth with its multiple expressions.Butan was born, which is the cornerstone of an innovative gastronomic, tourist and cultural project, a representative mark or a symbol that is the essence of everything.
Butan in Mapudungun means "Wholeness" and Butanmapu "All the Land". So the architectural and decorative design as their natural environment, are designed under this brand concept, whose Mapuche philosophy and red casts its essence of strength, energy and balance.
He isotype of Butan, is an abstraction of Kultrun, which iconically represents the corporate and business concept focus and balance the symmetry of its four cardinal points equidistant essential spiritual elements in the worldview of the Mapuche culture.
In short, Butan is the product of my interest in sharing with others is full of feelings and place knowledge acquired through my life on exciting topics of our history as human beings, as South Americans and as Chileans.

In 1866, Schwager abandoned his activities in coal mining after suffering a serious accident getting off a tram in Valparaiso, selling its shares with his family in the Puchoco mine to Délano brothers. In this contract any provision prohibiting Schwager in the future to open a new chiflón on the coast to extract coal under the sea surface was not specified.
